Sahaj Educator’s Fellowship Reflective report (2025-2026)

Abstract:
The SAHAJ Educator’s Fellowship is a hybrid professional learning programme developed by Prayas Health Group to build a pool of sexuality educators across Maharashtra. In 2025, the first cohort brought together 35 practitioners working with children across diverse professional and geographical contexts. The fellowship combines scientific learning, reflection, mentoring, practice, and peer learning. This report documents the fellows’ learning journeys and the changes they described in their perspectives and practices, including greater confidence in engaging with topics related to sexuality, broader and more inclusive approaches to Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE), and the integration of CSE into existing work across schools, civil society organisations, counselling, and community settings. The experience highlights that strengthening CSE requires more than curriculum or training alone; it calls for reflective and contextualised educator preparation, organisational readiness, and sustained communities of practice. These practice-based learnings offer important considerations for strengthening future cohorts and developing diverse pathways for the wider integration and scale-up of rights-based, inclusive CSE across diverse Indian contexts.
