The study investigated the views of both providers and women about current PMTCT programs in India. Objectives
- To explore current practices of health care workers in Government of India facilities offering antenatal care, HIV testing and PMTCT services with regard to confidentiality, pre and post test counseling and provision of informed consent for HIV testing and treatment
- To investigate women’s experiences with maternal care and PMTCT in INDIA including their perceptions about the information provided during the process, their understanding of the risks and benefits of HIV testing and PMTCT and their role in decision making around those issues.
Type of research: Qualitative methods like Key informant’s interviews, Focus Group Discussions and 8 semi structured interviews of recently delivered HIV infected women (within the last year) who underwent HIV testing in government hospital or ANC center were used.
