The South Asia Research Hub (SARH), DFID had initiated a Systematic Review (SR) Programme for South Asia. The programme aims at providing DFID country offices, policy makers and practitioners in South Asia with a robust assessment of the evidence base for their policies and programmes. As part of this program, a commissioned systematic review on effectiveness of different gender-responsive policing initiatives designed to enhance confidence, satisfaction in policing services and reduce risk of violence against women in low and middle-income countries was conducted in collaboration with Public Health Evidence South Asia (PHESA), Manipal University.
Objectives:
The specific objectives of the review were
- To identify and thematically classify interventions carried out under Gender Responsive Policing initiatives in low and middle income countries to enhance women’s confidence and satisfaction in policing services.
- To synthesize the existing evidence on effectiveness of different ‘gender-responsive policing’ initiatives designed to enhance confidence and satisfaction in policing services and reduce risk of violence against women in low and middle-income countries.
